![]() The file is saved locally on my computer. ![]() I read a while back that you could import. However, my trial ran out there, and I figured its a good time to upgrade to F360. ![]() This guide will show you how to convert complex STL files into solid bodies in Autodesk Fusion 360. A previous tutorial demonstrated how to convert relatively simple STL files into solid bodies. Importing a sketchup file I have a home project drawn up in sketchup, which was probably an ok way to learn to draw. If you want to, for example, download a model from Thingiverse and edit it, you will need a way to convert the STL file into a form that the tools provided by your software can understand. Here you can convert your Mesh file in to Solid model by just some clicks, Note : Only Low facet body can convert to solid body. STL and OBJ files are unitless, which means that they use an absolute value on import. Convert STL mesh to a Solid Body In Just 3 Minute Fusion 360. In the Insert Mesh dialogue, ensure that the import units match the units from the mesh source file. If they are to complex the Mesh to BRep conversion gets aborted. That only works if the meshs are not to complex. STL files can be downloaded and printed directly, but it can be difficult to edit these models in 3D CAD software like Fusion 360. Select the mesh file from your computer to insert. Fusion 360: Deactivate design history -> Import all needed stl files into new components at the beginning of design process -> Do a Mesh to BRep conversion for each mesh -> Join the new created components/bodies with others if needed. But what if you need to or want to edit the models? This seems like it should be easy however, the major problem you will encounter is that the vast majority of 3D models online are provided in STL format. These sites and many others are fantastic for downloading and printing models, as long as the models provided suit your needs. Youmatz Fusion 360: Import STL 3 Easy Steps Importing and converting STL files to CAD isnt always easy. But one of the most underrated advances in the consumer 3D printing market is the proliferation of 3D model repositories. Thingiverse, Youmagine, pinshape, GitHub, and Sketchfab are just a few of the dozens of different sites hosting 3D models for download. For example, creating a 25x25x25mm box but importing it in inches will result in a box that is 25x25x25in rather than mm. STL and OBJ files are unitless, which means that they use an absolute value on import. New techniques and technologies, not to mention new 3D printers, are constantly being developed. In the Insert Mesh dialogue, ensure that the import units match the units from the mesh source file. P.s.: I'm super stressed because we wanted to finish the project this weekend and I told everyone I got it if I get it as an stl.Almost daily technology blogs features stories about advances in the field of desktop 3D printing. Which you can then modify the STLs in Fusion 360 A video that is part of my. ![]() ![]() Thanks for every comment and I know I overextended myself! 6.1K views 2 years ago Fusion 360 Basics This video will quickly show you how to import STLs into Fusion360. So please tell me if this is purely graphical, just some minor thing or if I f*ed up bigly! I personally think its alright but I don't even know how to find that out and quick googling didn't work out, maybe due to language barrier. Prior researching made me go for stl as its supposedly the best for my CNC milling project. On the picture you can see a box with finger joints, when I have done the whole thing myself in fusion it didn't look like it but now a friend helped me with something more sophisticated (Autodesk) and saved it as an Stl for me. First off I'm sorry if this is a dumb Question but I'm working on a project with friends and I'm panicking right now! ![]()
